This weekend, Michael, Graham, and I had the awesome privilege of being invited to the 2008 Pritchard’s Island Invitational. Pritchard’s Island is an undeveloped barrier island off the coast of Beaufort County. We are lucky enough to be friends with a great guy, Captain Al, who has rights to a camp on this island. There is a loggerhead conservation program run by USC Columbia on the island as well. The invitational helped to benefit the turtles which was great.
Michael and I had made the trip together about a year prior and I was very eager to return. Pritchard’s is really a magical place where all stress is left behind. Graham came with us this year too. He had an amazing time and was able to experience so much of what nature has to offer! Surae stayed at home with my dad and had an equally great time I’m sure getting spoiled and being pampered. They are bonding very well!
Thanks to my dad for allowing us to have the opportunity to take this trip and thanks to Captain Al for extending an invitation to us to join him in this little slice of paradise!
Graham had a blast driving the boat to the island with Captain Al.
The camp at Pritchard’s Island
The dock- a great place to kick back and relax!
Graham found a jellyfish which Captain Al assured us was not poisonous.
We saw lots of starfish.
The island is covered in all of this beautiful driftwood.
We were able to watch 2 dolphins swim by and then start hitting fish with their tails. It was amazing and such a rare glimpse for me of nature in action.
Graham caught the one and only fish of the weekend! He was very proud.
Graham on a marsh walk behind the camp.
The camp even provides a shower- it may be a bucket with a hole, but it does the trick!
